Our own internally-developed system for ordering custom printing is completed!  On October 28th it was officially launched after just only a week of development and testing ... that is how quick and efficient we do things here at DesignBugger.  The new system features a full application development and custom database architect schema.  The system is built in PHP and updates the client side with AJAX and javascript integration in a seamless and clean way.  The data is protected and secure with xml mappings and excel vb macros and scripting.  Updating and maintenance are seamless for us and we can provide the latest and newest printing promotions, products, and printing options available at anytime!  

The overall design is very user-friendly with a crisp look reflecting our brand identity. With a step-by-step design process, the user can find what they are looking for in a quick and easy way.  The Product descriptions and additional options are displayed on the side to give more detail to the products listed.  Throughout the step-by-step guidance, there are help icons for more information about that option.

About Logo Vector Files

What is a vector version and why do I need it for a logo? 

I have been asked so many times on "What is a vector version and why do I need it for a logo?"  So I wanted to clearly state some main points on: what a vector version is defined as, what file type it is, what makes it different from other file types and finally why or how it can be used.

What is a Vector logo?
It is the use of geometrical objects such as lines (paths), curves, and shapes  -- and to go further, all of which are based on mathematical expressions. It is usually thought of as and illustration or drawing on computer by which the image generated is scalable to any size.  These graphics also include text that has been created to as paths.  So think about if you were to draw the letter "M" and what types of motions you would do to make the path. 

What file types are considered vector files?
There are numerous types, but the most commonly used vector file formats are:
eps  -- The most common of all is Adobe's EPS format (Encapsulated PostScript)
ai -- the file format for Adobe Illustrator. The AI format is supported, but most programs that read AI can also read EPS which is the standard.
svg --  the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is the W3C vector image format for online applications

What is the Difference between Vector Artwork and other types of artwork?
Raster images (Bitmap), which include jpg, png, tif, bmp, and gif formats,  are based on pixels and so when scaled there is a loss of clarity, while vector-based graphics can be scaled by any amount without degrading quality. Vector files are also much easier to manipulate and edit and the file size is a lot smaller then non-vector files.

Why Should I have a Vector version for my logo?
Easy... because it is the standard in the printing world and scalable to any size without losing quality.  Also when printing on promotional materials or t-shirts, many of the time you will need a vector version because screen printing is based on number of colors and the printing company needs a vector version of the file to lay out the design properly for printing.

Here are some other reasons:

• more creative options with manipulation 
• the elements can be separated and pulled apart 
• color edits are a synch 
• it can be used on any print or stationary design including also promotional materials 
• the colors are printed consistently from any commercial printer 
• It can scale to fit a billboard and will not lose its quality
• the font can be created as outlines or paths so it loads and looks the same computer to computer
